چکیده
Replacing conventional aggregate with steel slag waste can boost the microwave absorption properties of asphalt mixtures and reduce pollution to protect environment. In order achieve best healing in mixture, optimum particle size content are essential. For this purpose, a high-efficiency algorithm for random growth placement convex polyhedron is proposed paper. The limestone replaced an equal volume slag, three-dimensional mesoscale model mixture developed. process heating simulated by FEM. numerical simulations compared reported experimental data, which proves that reliable (R2 = 99.40%). Both average temperature uniformity distribution indicate replacement rate 60% at 4.75–9.5 mm 9.5–13.2 optimal, among heat transfer more uniform, gradient lower. Steel dramatically increase peak around boundary slag. reflection may be related dielectric constant, permeability, size. Excess will cause overheating most zones specimen also depress efficiency microwaves. coefficient variance spherical (0.36) polyhedral (0.32) temperatures indicates aggregate’s shape has negligible effect on mixtures.

Steel Slag Utilization in Asphalt Mixes
Steel slags are the major byproduct from the conversion of iron to steel in the basic oxygen (major type), electric arc and open hearth (minor type) steelmaking processes. Steel recovery from the slag results in a processed aggregate with both positive (wear resistant, skid resistant, rough textured, angular, well graded, stripping resistant) and negative (heavy, expansive) features. Considerab...
متن کاملEvaluation of the Cooling and Pavement Performance of Basic Oxygen Furnaces Slag Used in Asphalt Mixture
The basic oxygen furnace slag (BOF) was wide used in road construction, but there was a lack of characteristics in different asphalt mixtures. This study investigates the properties of hot-mixed asphalt (HMA) containing stone mastic asphalt (SMA), porous asphalt (PA) and dense-graded BOF as a partial substitution for natural aggregates. The purpose of this study is to evaluate various BOF slag ...

Microwave heating processes involve electromagnetic and thermal effects coupled together through the local temperature dependence of the material dielectric properties. This paper presents a one-dimensional model for the coupled electromagnetic-thermal process and demonstrates its solutions for typical problems. The local temperature dependence of the lossy dielectric medium is taken into accou...
